Hi, I’m Tabitha and I live in Pontypridd in South Wales with my husband and 2 kids. I’m an IT Business Analyst who has been working from home full time since March and misses the interaction that working in a large office brings (but is loving the opportunity to wear leggings all day every day).
For the past 7 years I have been actively involved in Roller Derby, firstly as a skater for the Dare Valley Vixens and then, after a nasty injury put paid to me competitively skating I took on the role of team manager and coach, teaching people to roller skate from the age of 3 up to people in their 60s. I currently help run the South Wales Silures, the only men’s roller derby team in South Wales.
Since my injury 4 years ago, I decided to try my hand at running as my boss wanted someone to help her train for the Cardiff Half Marathon. I told her I’d help her get to 5k and that she was on her own after that. She lasted 3 months and 3 years later I completed Swansea, Cardiff and Llanelli Half marathons (with Catrin from the first BHYP blog!). For someone who didn’t think she could get past 5k, I think I’m doing ok 😊
In the future I’m hoping to get back to running actual races with actual people and not just virtual ones, because I do love the medal bling.
